Sautéed Mushrooms

Sautéed mushrooms are a great side to any main dish! Can be offered to babies 6+ months (see recipe notes for suggestions.)

Equipment

Ingredients  

  • 1 lb baby bella mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 tbsp butter use unsalted for babies <12m old
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt omit for babies <12m old
  • 3 tbsp green onions

Instructions

  • Wash the mushrooms well with running water and cut them into ½ inch thick slices.
  • In a large skillet, add the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  • Once hot, add the mushrooms and garlic powder.
  • Sauté the mushrooms with lid on, stirring occasionally, until they start releasing liquid (about 10 min)
  • Then, remove lid and let them finish cooking until soft.
  • Remove from heat, add green onions, remove portion without salt and pepper for baby (if <12m old).
  • Season with salt and pepper for the rest of the family and serve!

Notes

  • Nutrition facts are calculated per serving.
  • Sautéed mushrooms can be offered to babies 6+ months added to an omelet or mashed potatoes for example. Make sure that you cut into small pieces and add to the mixture, or use a food processor to mash it before adding to the preparation.
