STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

You can store this tomato zucchini pasta sauce for an easy meal on busy days, I always have some handy.

Fridge: Store for up to 3 days preferably in a glass container.

Freezer: Store in freezer bags or glass jars. I like using small sized ones from Kilner or Elk and Friends, this way I have the perfect portion size for a baby or toddler meal.

Tomato Zuccini Pasta Sauce

You can serve this nutritious homemade sauce with pasta, meatballs or as pizza sauce. I also do use store bought passata and there are good brands with clean labels and minimum ingredients (ideally only tomatoes and salt), however these are not so easy to find and if you have a baby that is < 12 months old and should have no salt added to their diet, it is way better to make this super simple homemade version.

You can boost even more the nutrition by adding:

  • Carrots – make sure you cut them into smaller pieces as they take longer to cook compared with the tomatoes and zucchini
  • Cooked lentils – for a protein rich sauce if serving on its own.

Here are some serving suggestions for a complete meal (protein, carbs, veggies, healthy fats):

  • Pasta, homemade tomato zucchini sauce, hardboiled egg, steamed broccoli, drizzle of olive oil.
  • Meatballs, homemade tomato zucchini sauce, rice or quinoa, baby carrots.

  • This sauce can be served to babies 6+ months as pasta sauce, with meatballs, etc.
  • It is very EASY to make and freezes beautifully. I like to freeze each cup of sauce individually in freezer bags or use small 120ml glass jars which are the perfect size for one meal for babies and toddlers.
