These Banana Oatmeal Cookies are soft and chewy, great for offering a heathier snack for kids. They are made with only 4 ingredients and are also egg-free and dairy-free.
My 3-year-old loves these cookies. When he was a baby, I used to make him plain banana oat cookies but now, these are more appealing as they have dark chocolate chips! Who doesn’t love chocolate right?

Reasons to love these Banana Oatmeal Cookies
- Easy and quick to make.
- A great way to use ripe bananas.
- Added dark chocolate chips makes it appealing (and still healthy) for older kids (over 2yrs).
- Great way to add healthy fats and fiber to the kids’ diet.
Ingredients to Make This Healthy Recipe that Kids will Love!
- Bananas: The riper the better!
- Old fashioned oats: Make sure that you are using old fashioned (or rolled oats) in this recipe. If you use any other kind such as quick oats these cookies will be too dry.
- Peanut butter: Make sure to use natural with 100% peanuts in the composition. This is the one we love!
- Dark Chocolate Chips: I like using 60% dark chocolate. This is our favorite!
Step by Step Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper (or grease).
- Mash the bananas.
- Add all other ingredients and mix very well until combined.
- Scoop the cookies and press down to shape.
- Bake for 12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool a bit and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- This recipe makes 8-9 cookies. I used a cookie scoop equivalent to 1 tbsp.
- Let the cookies cool before removing from baking tray as they will come out of the oven still soft. With cooling, they will harden a bit.
Storage Instructions
- Fridge: Store for up to 3 days in a Ziploc bag or airtight container.
- Freezer: Freeze for up to 3 months. To defrost, place the cookies overnight in the fridge or heat in the microwave for a few seconds.
Serving Suggestions and Substitutions
- You can serve these cookies paired with fruit for a complete healthy snack!
- Peanut butter: You may replace it with any other nut butter, just make sure there are no sugar, oil or other ingredients added.
