These Nutritious Baby Hamburgers are packed with heart-healthy omega-3 fats, fiber and iron. It is one of my son’s favorite recipes since he was 9 months old. These juicy homemade hamburgers are ready in less than 20 minutes and are a must add to your family dinner rotation.
You can make these hamburger patties on the grill or stove top. Grill fresh or freeze for a later time!

Ingredients to Make the Best Nutritious Hamburgers:
- Ground beef
- Oat flour
- Onions
- Green onions
- Sesame seeds
- Flax seeds
- Egg
- Salt – omit to babies < 12m old.
- Olive oil – for greasing pan
Process and Cooking Tips:
- In a mixing bowl, add all ingredients together and use your hands to thoroughly combine until the mixture is smooth.
- With the hands wet, mold each mini hamburger. Use 1 heaped tbsp for each, make a ball and then using the palm of you hand press down each ball to make the hamburger patties.
- Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the patties on the baking sheet so that they don’t stick.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat, add some olive oil to grease.
- Grill both sides of the hamburger patties until fully cooked.
Storage Instructions:
These nutritious baby hamburgers can be frozen raw or cooked.
To freeze raw patties: place them between plastic film or parchment paper and freeze for a couple of hours until they are firm. Then, transfer to a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
To cook from frozen, heat a skillet over low heat, add some olive oil and the frozen patties. Cook covered until tender. Flip to cook the other side.
To freeze cooked patties: Let them cool, transfer to a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months. You can defrost overnight in the fridge and simply reheat in a skillet or microwave.
Serving Suggestions & Substitutions:
You can serve these delicious hamburgers to your baby or toddler as part of a main meal, with a side of veggies, fruit, and a carbohydrate such as rice, pasta, potatoes, corn for a complete meal.
When offering to babies <12m old, make sure that the baby has already been exposed to the individual ingredients as there are allergens in this recipe (egg and sesame seeds).
Or you can choose to offer it as a classic mini hamburger, just add a slice of cheese, lettuce, tomato and serve in a small dinner roll.
