Ingredients to make Strawberry Banana Oatmeal
This recipe uses five simple ingredients:
- Banana: the main source of sweetness in the recipe. For the best results, use ripe bananas with a few brown spots.
- Strawberries: To give a unique berry flavor to the oatmeal.
- Quick oats: old-fashioned oats will also work but require an increased cooking time.
- Milk: whole milk is my preferred option for toddlers, but you can use almond milk, coconut milk, or any other. When cooking for babies <12m old, you can use water, remove from heat, and add 3 tbsp formula or breast milk. Breast milk should not be boiled.
- Butter or coconut oil.
Step by Step Instructions
- Microwave the strawberries for 30s and mash with a fork.
- Mash the banana and mix it with the strawberries.
- In a pan, melt the butter or coconut oil.
- Add the oats and banana-strawberry mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes on low heat.
- Add the milk, turn the heat to medium, and mix occasionally for about 7 minutes. Close the lid and let it finish thickening.
- Let it cool and enjoy!
