Ingredients to make Strawberry Banana Oatmeal

You only need a few simple ingredients to make the best oatmeal for babies.

  • Banana: use ripe with a few brown spots for the best results.
  • Strawberries: Fresh or frozen
  • Quick oats: old fashioned oats will work as well!
  • Milk of choice: if cooking for babies <12m old, you may choose to use water instead of milk to cook. Remove from heat and add 3 tbsp formula or breast milk.
  • Butter or coconut oil

Step by Step Instructions

  • Microwave the strawberries for 30s and mash with a fork.
  • Mash the banana and mix with the strawberries.
  • In a pan, melt the butter or coconut oil.
  • Add the oats, banana-strawberry mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes on low heat.
  • Add the milk, turn the heat to medium and mix occasionally for about 7 minutes. Close the lid and let it finish thickening.
  • Let it cool and enjoy!

Storage Instructions

You can make this oatmeal ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for 1 day. To reheat, add a splash of milk and microwave until warm or heat up in a pan.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS

You can serve this strawberry banana oatmeal topped with:

  • Fresh strawberries / bananas
  • Chia seeds
  • Crushed nuts
  • Unsweetened coconut

To make it lactose free use your favorite plant milk and it will turn out perfect!
